NDP Stands up for a National Childcare Program

In 2015, the Liberals promised, ‘a childcare framework that meets the needs of Canadian families, wherever they live.’ Families throughout the country are still waiting.

Today, Sheri stood up in Question Period to hold the Liberal government to account for the lack of a universal childcare program. 
 
“In 2015, the Liberals promised, ‘a childcare framework that meets the needs of Canadian families, wherever they live.’ Families throughout the country are still waiting. Will this so-called feminist government commit to a national childcare program to help families now?” asked Benson.
 
A Canadian Centre for Policy Alternative study says that Saskatoon has only one licensed space for every four children, comparable to rural areas in Nunavut. Saskatoon and Regina are among the most difficult places in Canada to find licensed childcare.
