Canada Must Condemn Horrific Violence Against Gay Men in Chechnya

Russian news sources have reported the disappearance of more than 100 gay men at the hands of local authorities in Chechnya. Faced with torture, humiliation, and abuse, it has been confirmed that three of these men have died.

On Friday, I asked the government to add its voice to the growing list of countries, including the U.S., the UK and the EU, that have condemned the horrific violent actions towards the LGBTQ community in Chechnya.

Reports today show that these men are being put into concentration camps in Russia. Canada must join out international peers to condemn these horrific violations.
